Manipal International University (MIU) Malaysia, a member of the Manipal Global Education Group, is a Malaysian university currently offering programs approved by the Malaysian Qualification Agency in engineering, life sciences and business. MIU has been educating some of the brightest minds for over 60 years with a growing presence in 26 universities around the world. MIU Malaysia currently offers foundation programs, graduate and post-graduate programs through its Centre for Foundation Studies and Schools of Science and Engineering, Management and Business and Life Sciences.

All courses are currently available at MIU Kelana Jaya campus, which had their first intake in April. The next intake is in June 2012. Their lecturers have the industry and academic experience and background to ensure the programs designed and delivered remains practical and relevant with industry developments. The university also offers graduate placement assistance where they aid students by matching their skills and knowledge with the right job or company.
Malaysian SPM and STPM school leavers with good academic results can apply for the PTPN loan or MIU’s two categories of scholarships: Chairman’s or Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship. Each scholarship is tenable for the full duration of the recipient’s study at MIU.
SPM or Equivalent Qualifications (based on actual results only) for:
- 7As and above: Chairman’s Scholarship RM5,000 tuition fee waiver for Foundation Program; and RM5,000 per year for Bachelor’s Degree Program
- 6As: Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship RM3,000 tuition fee waiver for Foundation Program; and RM3,000 per year for Bachelor’s Degree Program
STPM or Equivalent Qualifications (based on actual results only) for:
- 3As and above: Chairman’s Scholarship RM8,000 tuition fee waiver for Year 1 and RM5,000 per year thereafter for the Bachelor’s Degree Program
- 2As: Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship RM5,000 tuition fee waiver for Year 1 and RM3,000 per year thereafter for the Bachelor’s Degree Program.

MIU held a groundbreaking ceremony in Nilai (Negeri Sembilan) at the end of last year. Announcing the construction of its 136-acre (55ha) campus. By 2012/ 2013, this serene stretch of land just south of Kuala Lumpur will be transformed into a bustling community with a capacity of over 20,000 students as well as hundreds of faculty and staff.
In its preliminary years, MIU will offer Engineering as its focal school, along with Business and Life Sciences. These initial schools will be followed by others, which will include Humanities, Design, Law, Hospitality, Education, and Media and Communication among others.
This is a five year project and the first phase, which is the School of Engineering, will be completed in September.
