The Academy of Pastry Arts strongly believe in passion and love towards what they do. The academy believes that without these two important components, it will be quite impossible to reach the milestones they set. Do you know that in order to become a good pastry chef you do not need to possess special talents? The journey of pastry chef starts from a basic qualification and lot of hard work. Most of their chef instructors started as commis chef in the food and beverage industry. Along the way they acquired knowledge and skills and transformed into teachers in the Pastry or bakery line.
By being a teacher, you get insight into the products used for teaching. When students make mistakes, it’s the duty of the teacher to look for answers. There are many trial and error in our job, especially when it comes to competitions. We spend a lot of time conducting trials and practicing until we eventually make the showcase the way we want it to be. The Academy of Pastry Arts is the perfect pastry school where students can learn form professional pastry chefs and not just lecturers.
The academy has a team of three executive pastry chefs and four assistant pastry chefs. Besides full-time instructors at the academy, pastry chefs from France, UK, US and other countries teach as guest lecturers. Academy of Pastry Arts Malaysia is the first training institute to bring high profile pastry chefs and chocolatiers from all over the world to the Asia Pastry Forum 2012 organized by the academy.
To start your training as a pastry chef, join the full-time programs in Pastry & Bakery Arts. The next intake will be October 1 2012. Students have the option to study for the Certificate (3 months duration), Diploma (6 months) or Advanced Diploma (9 months) programs awarded by City & Guilds UK.
The academy will be holding open days and trial classes on Sept 15 from 10am-3pm and Sept 16 from 10am-1pm. There will be baking activities, tour of the campus and personal course conselling. The academy will provide free accommodation for interested outstation participants. Prior registration is required.
